The public was invited to join us in welcoming Skwetsimeltxw Willard ‘Buddy’ Joseph and Chepximiya Siyam’ Chief Janice George to the Blue Cabin for their residency. Master weavers Joseph and George are pivotal figures in the revival of Coast Salish weaving traditions. They co-authored the essential work “Salish Blankets: Robes of Protection and Transformation, Symbols of Wealth,” and together co-founded the L’hen Awtxw Weaving House to share the teachings and practice of traditional Coast Salish wool weaving.

The reception included an artist talk, and Indigenous catering by Lisa Lewis.
